OCT Scans
What is OCT?
OCT is an enhanced imaging technique, similar to ultrasound, that uses non-disruptive light waves to view the different layers of the retina. It can help in the early detection of eye pathology that would otherwise go unnoticed. Things such as:
-
Pigment changes that can lead to sight loss
-
Retinal tears
-
Fluid behind the retina
-
Vitreous detachments
-
Glaucoma
-
Bleeding.
Our optometrist can review the images on a PC screen and pinpoint areas of concern by digitally peeling the layers back until they define what it is that they have identified as requiring further investigation.
